Family therapy

What is family therapy?

Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on relationships and interaction within the family. We provide support both to individual family members and to the family as a whole.

The goal is to increase understanding between family members, improve communication, and strengthen the family’s own resources so that interactions become more respectful and functional.

With the help of a psychotherapist, difficult events and crises, grief, family histories, and family secrets can be explored and processed. Conversations may be complemented with tools such as cards, games, drawing, writing exercises, or other therapeutic methods.

Family therapy can help with:

  • Family conflicts and communication difficulties
  • Life crises and transitions at different stages of life
  • Depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns
  • Substance misuse and eating disorders
  • Serious illness or bereavement within the family
  • Traumatic experiences and domestic violence

Today, the concept of family is broad and can take many different forms. The aim of family therapy is to enhance the well-being of all family members.
